I think it probably has to with the engine. I don't read through the stable matches very often, but I know in tag matches I've seen the partner who hasn't been in the match come in weakened if the partner in the ring has taken a major beating. Might be the same "phenomenon" since a stable match is just a big elimination tag match.

You think that's bad, I lost a First Blood match after ONE hit yesterday!!!

With stable matches if 1 stable member taps out on the first round of a submission hold, the submission will continue onto the next stable member to enter the ring.
